Overview
211 Colorado offers text messaging (SMS/MMS) communications to individuals who opt in to receive them. This policy explains what information we collect through our texting program, how we use it, and — most importantly — our commitment to never sell, rent, or share your phone number or texting data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Information We Collect
When you opt in to our SMS program, we may collect:
- Your mobile phone number
- Your name (if provided at opt-in)
- Zip Code
- Requested Need
- Records of messages sent to and received from you (e.g., replies, STOP/HELP requests)
How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected solely to:
- Send you the text messages replying to your specific needs
- Respond to your requests (such as HELP or STOP commands)
- Requested need information so find your local resources
- Maintain accurate records of consent for compliance purposes
No Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes — ever.
Your information is only shared in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use trusted SMS platform providers (e.g., our texting/CRM software) solely to deliver messages on our behalf. These providers are contractually prohibited from using your information for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process.
- Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Mile High United Way, our supporters, or the public.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Message Frequency and Charges
Message frequency varies depending on the program(s) you join. Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier and plan.
How to Opt Out
You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive one final confirmation text, and no further messages will be sent unless you opt in again.
How to Get Help
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us directly at:
Data Retention
We retain opt-in records and message history for as long as necessary to operate our program and meet legal and compliance obligations, after which the information is securely deleted or anonymized.
